Happy Wednesday!

Welcome back to this week's Media Minds newsletter. Today we are going to talk about a big player in the small business and content creators world - LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is not new, in fact, it is older than X, Facebook, and Instagram! What was since synonymous with long-time business professionals and stuffy office work though has now become a haven for creatives and start-ups (along with those business professionals). LinkedIn is all about networking and it has only gotten better with age. Here’s how you can take advantage of this old platform’s new spotlight.

Make Your Page Complete

At its core LinkedIn is a networking site. This means that whether people want to work with you or for you, they want to know YOU. developing a headline, overview, and skills list that highlights what you’re best at and what makes you different is important. Here is another hint, don’t just list your work like a resume, build a narrative about why and how you stand out in that job.

Newsletters Are King

LinkedIn has 450 million newsletter subscriptions globally. People are flocking to LinkedIn to get professional, industry-specific knowledge every day. Switching to creator mode allows you to create your own to share your thoughts. This can be directly how your business enhances your industry or just industry-related content. (Did you know that we have our own LinkedIn newsletter, The Balanced Professional? It is a bi-weekly guide to navigating work-life balance. Subscribe!)

Don’t Think Ads

Keep your audience up-to-date on what your company has accomplished or is currently doing. Showcase new things your company is offering. Don’t worry about selling, you don’t need to give discount codes or pull the “but wait there’s more” thing here. LinkedIn ads are more likely to convert to sales simply from being on their platform with viewers saying they trust a brand on LinkedIn and view it as “higher quality.”

Level Up Your Social Media Strategy This April

Master the art of crafting a social strategy and turning challenges into opportunities. This small group training from the American Marketing Association connects you with peers facing similar questions around defining your social media purpose and measuring impact. Move beyond theories and build practical strategies that achieve your goals.

Engagement For Engagement

Commenting, liking, or sharing content from other creators in your niche is a great way to build connections and increase eyes on your brand. You already know how important it is to communicate with your customers, and interacting with your peers is the same. Building these connections can show others that you are a serious player in your industry.

Research Yourself

All the tips listed above involve you spreading your skill, content, or services to others. This tip is the opposite. You have industry leaders at your fingertips! Sign up for those newsletters, engage with content that you learned from, and try new recommendations in your niche. The online world and social media sites are constantly evolving, see where others are changing and how that worked out for them to stay on top of things.

That is all for this Wednesday, see you next week (or this Friday for our weekly round-up)!
